Farewell Auntie Gertie

May 2010

Sad news from Cape Town, that Auntie Gertie passed awy on May 9.

Lindsay had popped in to see Gertie only hours before, knowing that the previous week Gertie had been moved to frail care. However until her last weeks Gertie remained bright and cheerful despite longterm health problems and failing sight. She was very appreciative of the pleasant company, kindness and care she received at the Helen Keller Home in Pinelands, and always chirpy and appreciative when we visited and phoned her. Amidst the sadness of her passing we salute Gertie for her cheerful spirit and remember her fondly.

Marion, Detlev and Michaela flew in from Austria to join Cape Town, Honinglip and Joburg family members for a memorial gathering at Quiet Waters on May 29 - see photos below.
