A toast to 2000 from Walter -- and more travel news
Walter at Honingklip, 1 Jan 2000

This photo shows me sitting at sunrise, 06:00 am, 1 January 2000, at the entrance to the natural rock cave we have on almost the highest point of our 962 hectares land, Honingklip.

We bought Honinklip in 1947 in connection with Ruth's interest in the flora and the activities that had resulted from that.

Meanwhile its use has turned into a leading Dried Flower Production and Export business under the ownership and direction of Robert, employing between 80 and 120 people on that land.



Walter's postcard with its picture of Hong Kong and stamps from Vietnam said:

From one sailor (?) to another, my greetings! Certainly nice to be on the sea again, the South China Sea, with the ship rolling quite a bit but all in great confort, too much to eat...

I expected tropical heat but found Hong Kong and 14 degrees VERY cold. While even now Danang, Vietnam, it is grey and just 20 degrees.

The ship provided a cake, wine and a group of Philipino waiters singing for me!
