April, 1998Late already, and a long day of fighting technology through the phone lines. But I won! I had these monster documents e-mailed to me by a customer, and had to struggle to get them in a printable format, and then went to work to finally get them onto paper. Duly done, and now ready for perusal by our resident S'African Oracle expert, who I pick up in Hartford tomorrow morning - two hours drive from here - at 7 am - and then on to Boston for a one-day class we are both sitting in at Orcale Corp.
Then BACK home via Stamford - all tomorrow. So forgive me if I miss a day on my e-mail-a-day program tomorrow. BIG NEWS!! Colleen got hired! As of 5:30 pm today. Assistant Mngr at the new Movado Store to open in Westchester Mall, White Plains - a VERY swish joint - a big "mall" impeccably developed, all the biggest names, and architecturally very pleasing. A world away from Manhattan. She is to start on Monday at the Rockefeller Center Store in Manhattan, and then be involved in all the preparation (and hiring) for the new opening in April. Good for her, I would say! This Friday Thirteenth, we are driving up north to "camp-out" at a rustic-retreat-type club in upstate New York, with David Henderson and his companion. The last chance to get a weekend off for a while, and just in time.
May, 1998Yes, the snow is melted, and the warm weather (was) here - now it's cold and rainy again. But "April showers bring May flowers..." and all that. Just drove back from Boston, and stopped in the office to get e-mails. All going fine here, and please enjoy the LONG Easter w'end for me... since in this IRReligious country, Easter is a non-event. work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work..... sung to the tune of men men men men men by Monty Python.... At least I'm working out of home most of the time now, so that is an improvement. Even FINALLY got my PC fixed so that it can log on to the net by dial-up at home, and ny network at work, and all the mail ends up in the same spot..... progress!
Everything lekker over here. Garden coming on, Colleen working like stink, Carlo stinking like work, Kids cruising along great. Bought Zak his first REAL bicycle on Saturday - paid a pretty penny - but its a lekker little one with gears and all, and something he will be proud of, and therefore, so my theory goes, will be more keen to learn quickly. He is nearly there, but still needs a few concentrated sessions with me running along behind holding the saddle to learn to "fly solo". Amiel got a little scooter (the one foot kick-kick, skip-skip kind) which was only $29, and is perfect for him (and Zak) to get better at balancing on. Well, gotta get on with my work. And my computer is on battery power because I left the connector cable at home.... so I'm typing like the wind before it runs out of poop.
